Sacred Heart University Student Chokes To Death On Flapjacks
A college student has died from choking while attempting to devour a stack of pancakes for charity. The 20 year-old-girl, Caitlin Nelson, attended Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. She served as the vice president of community service at the school’s Kappa Delta sorority, originally from Clark, New Jersey.
According to NY Post reports from people at the event, Nelson “starts to choke on pancake and someone recognized it — one of the nursing students at the competition — and she caught her and brought her slowly to the ground, and then she began CPR, basic life support, until officers showed up less than two minutes after the emergency call was made by one of the nursing students.” Responding officers tried to clear the young woman’s airway but, unfortunately she wasn’t able to breathe again. She died after being placed on a brief life support.
The irony of the situation, news reports that Nelson’s dad was a responder in NYC during 911 and was attending the college in his memory, on scholarship. May she Rest In Peace.
